Patricia Jeannette Bailey-Gaston was born August 18, 1954, to the union of Burley Bailey Sr. and Katie Lee Alexander-Bailey. She was the 4th of 7 children (4 girls & 3 boys). She married Perry Gaston in 1980.
Patricia (Pat) gave her life to Christ at the early age of 12 under the pastoral leadership of Rev. I. L. Craft of Los Angeles, California.
In 1986, Pat relocated to Shreveport, LA to be near her mother. Showing her love to people came easy; she was often called Sister Margaret because she helped those in their time of need. She opened her doors and provided a place to sleep, she fed so many, and loved to see the smiles on their face while doing so. She also provided a central location to gather, preventing youngsters from hanging out in the streets. Her way of keeping an eye on them and keeping them safe. She was a blessing to everyone around her and a prime example of God’s love in action.
Pat loved to spend time with family and friends, cooking, dancing, singing, and making us all laugh. “Whoop there it is” her saying when she was passionate about something, rather it be taking her last without asking, making her mad, a deep conversation, and/or if she was feeling good in her own way.
“I love you more” are her words when expressing her love to her family. Random phone calls with her singing “Steve Wonder - I just called to say that I love you” brighten up so many of our days. Keeping it real, who she was at her core, teaching us all to let our right be right and our wrong be wrong. Her way of showing us to own our shortfalls, and our successes, and loving us through them all.
On October 12, 2021, Pat entered eternal rest and was embraced by the Savior of Glory receiving her Heavenly reward. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Burley Bailey Jr., Joseph Bailey, and John Ray Bailey.
Pat’s memories will be cherished by her daughters, Tricishaune Bonner (Patrick), Louise Michelle Clem (Marlon), and Shinee Gaston Jacobs (Rogers); stepdaughters, Yolanda Gaston, and Sabrina Gaston; her lifelong friend and father of her children, Perry Lee Gaston; and her sisters, Cheryl Bowens, Nancy Ford, and Herdiese Bailey. She also leaves to cherish her memories 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The last few years of her life leading to the day of her homegoing, Pat rededicated her life with a reassurance of her Salvation in May 2020. She expressed her love for the Lord, her fearlessness of what was to come, that she was happy, loved her family, and for us not to cry because God got her. Though she will be greatly missed on this earth, we know she has joyfully received her reward of eternal life in Heaven.
We the family give God all the Glory because we know we will see her again!!!
