It is impossible to count the number of lives touched by Janis Spiegel. To her husband, she was his Janis, who always knew the right thing to do, and to her children, she was Mama who was engaged and nurturing even as her children grew to become grandparents. She and Sidney were always involved in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her Grandmother, and her house with Grandaddy is the most comforting place they know. Mrs. Spiegel served in the nursery at their church, Springs of Grace Baptist Church, for several decades. During that time, she cared for, and ministered to, generations of children, their children, and often their grandchildren, all of whom are privileged to remember Mrs. Spiegel and her consistent routines and reassuring presence.
Her family is grateful for Grandmother and Granddaddy. We will always remember Christmas mornings, the best cakes with the secret ingredient, birthday dinners, reminder calls about the time change, bread and butter, grilled cheese, sitting on the swing outside on nice days, Grandmother and Granddaddy sitting close together on the couch, loud TV shows and old VHS tapes, teatime, cookies, birthday cards with a $1 bill and a stick of gum, and so much more. Most of all, we remember the deep, wonderful, and steady comfort she was to us. We love our Grandmother and Granddaddy, and we are so deeply honored by how they have loved us.
