James Robert Stanford went to be with The Lord, Friday, December 24th, 2021, at the age of 91. He was born April 26, 1930, in Gridley, Kansas to Barrett Sylvester Stanford and Lucy Belle Newcomb.
He moved to Shreveport at the age of 12, but never forgot the prairie land of Kansas where he would roam with his pet dog.
He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1949 and attended Northwestern State College. He married his lifelong sweetheart, RoseAnn Cascio, in 1951 and was married for 68 years until her death in 2020.
He retired from Bell South, but never retired from life. He was always busy pursuing his passions. He loved planting trees, gardening, fishing, camping, woodworking, whittling, astronomy, genealogy, coin and stamp collecting, riding motorcycles, and he even parachuted out of a plane at age 50!
He poured his heart into his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known as Pappaw to them. He attended all of their functions from escorting to T-ball, baseball, and football games.
He was preceded in death by his wife, RoseAnn; his parents, Barrett and Lucy; his infant sister, Margaret Joanne; his brother, Buzzy; his sister, Jean Estes; and his brother-in-law, AJ Cascio.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Booty (Ron), Denise Yester, and Stephen Stanford; his grandchildren, Rachelle Copeland (Byron), Alan Hair, and Amy Booty (Abram); great-grandchildren, John Byron (Chloe), Jacob, and Jett Copeland, and General and Avery Booty; along with several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 29th at Forest Park Cemetery East under the care of Forest Park Funeral Home.
The family expresses their gratitude to the nurses, CNA’s, and Staff at The Glen.
His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by everyone. But we will see him again in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
