Dot was born on October 20, 1932, in Indianapolis. She married Bob on October 20, 1951, and they soon started their own family. The Lehrs relocated to Louisiana in 1967 after Bob accepted a promotion through Western Electric. Dot worked primarily as a homemaker but was also a dress shop manager.

Dot loved dancing, big band music, bowling, and playing cards.  She was a hostess at heart who could always be found cleaning and cooking for her family. She loved to travel, often visiting family in Indiana. She and Bob took multiple church trips to different parts of Europe, particularly enjoying their time exploring the Vatican and Italy.  As a lifelong Catholic, Dot often attended daily mass and served as part of the Blue Army of Our Lady Fátima. She is best-known for being devoted to her faith, husband, and family. She was sophisticated, sweet, spunky, steadfast, and very dear to those who knew her.
