Wanda Taylor, 91 of Shreveport Louisiana died at 09:52 a.m. Thursday September 29, 2016 at Promise Hospital of Shreveport in Shreveport Louisiana, after a brief illness. Mrs. Taylor was born February 8, 1925 in Forest Hill, Louisiana. Mrs. Wanda Taylor loved to travel the world, and was a military wife, spending time living in France and traveling all over Europe while stationed there with her husband and family. In the early 1950s and again returning home to Shreveport from overseas, she worked as a federal government employee at Barksdale AFB until she retired. She loved to be creative and crocheted warm softly colored afghans and embroidered and sewed beautiful quilts to pass on to her loved ones. Surviving members of Mrs. Taylor's family are daughter Sharon Johnson, son Johnnie Johnson, great-grandson Jared Johnson, and grand-daughter-in-law Melissa Johnson, widow of John and mother of Jared. Surviving family members also include nephews Ronnie, Gary, Larry and Kevin Chatelain. The visitation is at Forest Park Funeral Home, located at 1201 Louisiana Avenue in Shreveport. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 5, 2016. The funeral service will be held the following morning beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Forest Park Funeral Home. The burial will immediately follow the service, at the Forest Part West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport Louisiana.
