Walburga ""Wally"" Urfis

Walburga Urfis - Obituary Walburga Huber Urfis, 95, of Shreveport, Louisiana, slipped into the loving arms of God on April 25, 2017, after a lengthy illness. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 28, 2017, at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church with Father Francis Kamau as the celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Wally was born in Wartenburg, Germany on October 13, 1921. She and her husband left their homeland in 1951 and settled in Shreveport. Wally was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook, who loved preparing wonderful family meals and baking delicious desserts, particularly German cookies and pastries. Wally is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Kathi Gruber. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Joseph, and by her son, Richard (Linda), her daughter, Ruth (Jerry), her grandsons, Chris Berger, Jeffrey Berger, Christian Heidecker, and five great-grandchildren.
