Virginia Walker

Virginia Lee Jones Walker, 91, of Haughton, LA passed away peacefully January 12, 2018 at her home. She was born July 8, 1926 to Abner and Ida Jones in East Texas. Virginia attended Fair Park High School. After graduation and marriage, Virginia moved to California, and while there earned a certification as a Telegraph Operator. After WW II, they relocated back to Shreveport where they raised a family and was first a homemaker. Later, she attended Vo-Tech, here she earned a Clerk-Typist Certification. Virginia spent her time enjoying the outdoors by fishing and gardening. She was a Charter Member of: Westview Christian Church. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, John Elbert Walker Jr; son, John Elbert Walker III; parents, Abner and Ida Jones; siblings, Estelle J. Post and John W. Jones. Virginia is survived by her children, Shelby W. Walker and Malea Walker Alexander; grandchildren, Steven R. Alexander, Adam S. Alexander, Penelope W. Sutton, Stacey Adams, Wendy Roop; sister Martha J. Holeyfield; 10 Great-Grandchildren; and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. A Private, Family, Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. A special thank you to Anna Gunn, who sat with Virginia for 5 years and to the members of Haughton Fire Department. The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, to make contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
