Thomas Rodney Flynn, age 77 on April 3, 2016. Thomas Rodney Flynn passed away peacefully on the morning of April 3, 2016. A Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 7, 2016, with a Funeral Service following at 11:30 AM, at Forest Park Funeral Home. Rodney is survived by his children: Becky Flynn-Ouzts, Ralph Liddell, Suzanne Sharp (Husband: Scotty), Katie Fuller (Husband: Casey), and his grandchildren: Timothy Ouzts (Wife: Katie), Matthew West, Katelyn Flynn Thompson (Husband: Chris), Conner Cannon, Trent Sharp, Ashley Sharp, Collin Sharp, Seth Sharp, Noah Fuller, Joshua Fuller, Caleb Fuller, Gabriel Fuller, and by three great grandchildren. Rodney is also survived by his brothers: Charles Flynn (Wife: Reba) and Donnie Flynn (Wife: Paula) and his dear friends: Larry Gibson and Lee Jones. Rodney was preceded in death by his Father, Thomas M. Flynn; Mother, Zelma T. Flynn and sister, Betty Flynn. Rodney was born on July 17,1938 to Thomas and Zelma Flynn. He attended Byrd High School and enlisted in the Navy at an early age. Rodney had an incredible zest for life and enjoying living on the edge. In his early years Rodney was a talented boxer and a dirt track racer. The racing eventually led Rodney into his lifelong work in the auto industry. He had an unmatched work ethic that inspired all who knew him, working well into his later years. Rodney was a kind man who unconditionally and deeply loved his children. He raised them with tenderness, patience and a gentle discipline. His unsurpassed loyalty and friendship were all encompassing. He was incredibly forgiving to all he came in contact with. He was a good soul who never had an unkind word to say about anyone and was always there to lend a helping hand, to those in need. He was compassionate and understanding. He acted as a father and a positive role model to all, above and beyond his immediate family. Rodney left his mark on both the ones who loved him and the people he interacted with each day. His life will be remembered in the hearts of all who had the pleasure to know him.
