Thomas Carey Dewett, 65, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home in Shreveport, LA. from complications related to early onset Alzheimer's. He was born May 2, 1953 in Hot Springs, AR to Thomas H. and Marge Dewett. He attended Captain Shreve High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Tom was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished musician touring the U.S., Philippines and Japan with The Covenant Players. His love for the guitar allowed him to teach many individuals how to play. He was a skilled EMT who loved being able to help people. Tom was an avid scuba diver, instructor and safety diver. He devoted time directing and being a cameraman for churches and televised community events, was deeply involved in the Deaf Mission of First Baptist Church and a licensed private pilot who truly loved flying. He was the owner of Shreveport X-Ray and was a well-respected businessman. Tom Dewett was a son, a brother, husband, father and a very special friend to all who knew him. He would want to thank the individuals in his life who have listened without judgement, spoken without prejudices, helped without entitlement, understood without pretension and loved him without conditions. He was preceded in death by his father; Thomas H. and brother; Ronald Dewett. Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Evelyn Dewett, son; Justin Dewett, step-son; Jacob Brookshire, mom; Marjorie Dewett, brother; Wayne Dewett and wife Rosemary. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thank you to: Jacob Brookshire whose unconditional love, support, kindness and gentle spirit for Tom, allowed Tom to remain at home during this very sad and devastating illness. Without him life would have been very difficult. He was Tom's greatest blessing. Dr. Mike McKee and his wife Betsy who loved Tom and showed him the truest meaning of friendship. Ms. Annette whose tremendous patience, love and kindness for Tom was a blessing in our lives. She will always be a part of our family. St. Joseph's Hospice: Shirley, Charlotte, Ann, Kristen, L.V., Linda, Dr. Del-Mundo, Dr. Ball………. a very compassionate, kind and loving group of people who brought such peace, joy and comfort into our lives and to the many physicians who treated Tom with dignity, respect and compassion.
