Sybil Mcdaniel

Sybil Mercer McDaniel died at the age of 98 on September 25th, at 7:55 at the Landmark Nursing Facility in West Monroe, Louisiana, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. McDaniel was born April 5, 1920, in Elysian Fields, Texas to Bert Mercer and Madie Woodley Mercer. She married the late William Allen McDaniel and made her home in Shreveport, Louisiana where she raised 7 children: Judy Flowers of West Monroe, Louisiana; Bert Allen McDaniel of Mobile Alabama; Patsy Slaughter of LeCompte, Louisiana, Shirley Cantley of Springhill, Louisiana; Sybil Lynn of Shreveport, Louisiana; William Allen McDaniel, Jr., of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Harry Hebert McDaniel of Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. McDaniel has18 grandchildren, four of which have preceded her in death. She leaves behind 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. McDaniel was a longtime member of the Cedar Grove Free Methodist Church. She spent her last year's quilting, gardening, and reading the Bible. One of her favorite passages was Psalms 19:7 ""The law is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple"" Graveside services will be held for Mrs. McDaniel on Monday, October 1, 2018, at Forest Park Cemetery, West, Shreveport, Louisiana at 11:00 AM.
