Ruth Maude Picht

Ruth Maude Shelton Picht, lovingly referred to as Ruthie, was born on January 16, 1935. She passed away on October 29, 2021, 2 months after her beloved husband. She married Lt. Col Floyd Picht in 1956 and had 8 children. She is survived by 7 of her children: Julie, Laura, Lisa, Michael, Steven, Tommy, and Teresa. Her son, Ronnie, passed away on August 18, 2020. Ruthie was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Darius, Aja, Cristy, Lindsey, Natalie, Chris, Madison, Cody, Christiana, and Justin; and 5 great-grandchildren: Evie, Rowan, Beckett, Stellan, and Cambria. She is survived by her sisters, Lois Guenette and Sandra Eckland; her brother, Joe Shelton; and her husband's brother, Col. Robert Picht. Family was her life. All holidays were celebrated, and she always went all out. Ruthie was a devout Catholic and rarely missed Sunday Mass. She volunteered for countless years at the food pantry along with many friends who she loved dearly. Ruthie was extremely resourceful, talented, generous, and could make or fix anything. She will be missed by many. Ruthie loved her family and friends who take comfort knowing she is now at peace in the arms of Jesus. Memorial services will be held on December 4th at 10:00 AM at Forest Park Funeral Home at 1201 Louisiana Ave. Shreveport, LA 71101. All are welcome to celebrate her amazing life.
