Russell Allen Hays

January 28, 1966 — January 23, 2023

Russell Allen Hays was born January 28, 1966, in Oceanside, California to Robert and Joyce Hays.

Russell was preceded in death by his mother and father as well as his brother, Lance Hays.

He is survived by his uncle, Bryce Hays and his godchildren, David and Brittney Lindberg.

Russell, Rusty as many knew him, served as a Sergeant in the Louisiana National Guard for 9 years and also served in the Army through Operation Desert Storm. Rusty was a pharmacist for the majority of his adult life. He also worked as an officer with the Natchitoches Police Department, which he greatly enjoyed. Rusty was involved in many clubs and organizations, and he was quite the entrepreneur and business man. He had an extensive list of hobbies, some of which included piloting planes, fly fishing, hunting, collecting military items, gun collecting, and his most recent passion for scuba diving. Rusty was an avid gun enthusiast so much so that he had started his own firearms business. Regardless of how busy his life was, he always made time for those he cared about; he was a loyal and dependable friend to many. Although he never had children of his own, he took great pride in his god-children, David and Brittney, whom he treated as his own. He was very particular of who he allowed to see the softer side of him, so if you did, know you must have been special. Those who got past the tough exterior knew he had a heart of gold, of course it was under all the dark humor and skepticism he lovingly saturated each of his friends' lives with. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. Though he didn’t get to follow his plan to retire in Florida, we know he is relaxing in his Heavenly home with his family.
