Roland Cade Slay, 85, of Bossier City, retired from City of Bossier as an Engineer Inspector, died Monday, October 19, 2015, in his sleep, at his home in Bossier City. Roland was born in Belmont, Louisiana on July 12, 1930. He had a passion for gardening, loved fishing, hunting, bluegrass music, reading western novels, and playing dominoes. He was preceded in death by his parents; W.C. Slay and Leola Austin. He is survived by his beloved wife Lola Burns Slay, his daughter Deborah Joan Slay Martin of Tullos La.his son Gary Douglas Slay, daughter in law Jamie Slay, of Bastrop La.,brother Dewayne Curtis Slay of Bastrop Texas. He has six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Roland had a passion for living, loved country life and history, National Geographic, and collecting coins. He enjoyed his dogs Prissy, Lynn,and Katie. He will be truly missed, he was a special man with many talents! A special thanks to Sportran, Ashley Ridge Dialysis, and his caretaker LaTonya Hall. Roland 's Celebration of Life Memorial will take place on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Forest Park Funeral Home 1201 Louisiana Ave. Shreveport, La. Visitation 9:30 a.m. The Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St.Judes Research Cancer Center
