Richard G. McBroom Sr., 92, of Bossier City went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 5, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Our beloved Richard was born on July 2, 1929 in Shreveport Louisiana to Carl and Martha McBroom and survived his beloved brothers Tommy and William. Richard, also known as Sargent Babe, was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp on March 18, 1950 and retired as Vice President and Trust Officer of Commercial National Bank after 35 years of service. Richard was a devoted husband who loved and adored his wife of 59 years, Shirley McBroom. He enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else and was everyones best friend, mentor and a true patriarch to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family of in-laws, cousins and close friends. Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley McBroom, son, Richard G. McBroom Jr., two daughters, Pam Gipson and Angela Broocks, seven grandchildren, Ashley McBroom and Samantha McBroom, Travis Gipson and Ben Gipson, Tanner Broocks, Ashley Broocks & Tyler Broocks and his great grandson Braxton along with his sister in-laws Kaye Lee, Carolyn Bonacci & Dot Brantley and brother in-law, Eddie Ludlam. We will all miss Richard for the time being but look forward to seeing him again upon our Lords calling and will carry his legacy with us proudly until then. We will gather to celebrate Richards life and remember him at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, La. 71109 on Friday, July 9th at 10:00 a.m. and spend time with family and friends afterwards at his home. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard G. McBroom Jr., Brian Broocks, Jon M. Gipson, Travis D. Gipson, Ben Gipson, Tanner Broocks.
