Ray Charles Grant

Ray Charles Grant, 62, of Shreveport, LA passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Ray was born December 19, 1955 to Huey and Odessa Houston Grant, in Shreveport. Ray spent his youth residing in Dallas, TX and Coushatta, LA. It was in Coushatta, when at an early age, Ray professed Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior, under the leadership of Reverend K.P. Jones, of the Starlight Baptist Church. Ray later graduated from Coushatta High School. In 1987 Ray joined the Army Reserve and served three years and earning the Marksman Badge. Ray loved football and was a big fan of his five-time, world champion Dallas Cowboys. Ray loved music, especially favoring the Blues and Contemporary Christian music. He also loved his career in sales having surpassed 27 years with Red Ball Oxygen Company. Ray is preceded in death by his father, Huey Grant. Ray is survived by his beloved mother, Odessa Grant, his siblings: Huey Grant, Jr., Etta Calhoun, Cathy Hall, Pamela Bailey, and Ted Houston; his three sons: Antonio, Alphany, and Arigeo; and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of Ray's life will start with a Visitation at 6 PM - 8 PM, Friday, June 1, 2018. Funeral Services will be the following day at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018. All events will be held within the Wellman Memorial Chapel at Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Ave., Shreveport, LA 71101.
