Obituary

Pierre Dalton Corner, 93, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at Claiborne Health, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 9, 1933, in Abbeville, Louisiana, Pierre was the son of Lillie Dubois and Pierre Cladu Corner. He spent most of his life in Abbeville and Shreveport, Louisiana, with the exception of his time serving his country in the United States Air Force. He attended Abbeville High School, Shreveport Trade School, and Bossier High School, where he earned his diploma.

In 1951, Pierre enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in combat support as an Airman Second Class until his honorable discharge in 1954. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Elnora Carol Chandler, on July 22, 1954, in Carthage, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, celebrating an extraordinary 72 years of marriage this past July.

Pierre worked for many years as a machinist at Beard-Pouland Saw Company before joining his wife, affectionately known as “Nono,” and their family in establishing a cleaning business called “Clean Corners.” They worked together until retirement.

A devoted husband and father, Pierre was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished woodworker and cabinetmaker who lovingly crafted toys and furniture for family and friends. As he grew older, he traded his saws and heavy tools for the quieter art of whittling. He enjoyed sitting and visiting with others, and by the end of a conversation, he would often surprise someone with a small, handcrafted treasure made especially for them.

Music was another of Pierre’s great passions. In his younger years, he was a talented guitar player and singer, earning the affectionate title of the family's very own Elvis impersonator. His love for music extended beyond himself, as numerous instruments were donated to churches and young musicians to encourage their musical interests.

Pierre and his beloved Nono also shared a passion for travel. In their younger years, they would load the children into the car and set off on adventures to destinations unknown. There was never a road trip they didn't love. As they grew older, their adventures continued alongside Virginia, exploring destinations both near and far, including travels abroad.

Pierre was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ellis Corner; his parents, Lillie Dubois and Pierre Cladu Corner; his brothers, V. J. Corner and Golden Corner; his sister, Deloris Harrington; and his brother-in-law, Louis Alexander Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 72 years, Elnora “Nono” Corner; his sisters-in-law, Betty Corner and Virginia Alexander; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.

One of the family's fondest memories comes from Pierre and Nono's time in assisted living. While his wife had long been affectionately known as “Nono,” the caregivers lovingly gave Pierre the nickname “Yesyes,” a tribute to his kind, accommodating, and cooperative spirit. Together, “Nono” and “Yesyes” became a cherished pair whose love and companionship brought joy to those around them.

Pierre will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to his country, his remarkable talents, and the simple kindness he extended to everyone he met. His legacy lives on through the memories he created, the treasures he crafted, and the love he shared throughout his 93 years.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
