Peggy Clewis Milford, 85, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026. She was born on June 14, 1940, in Bessie Mae, Texas, and lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering conviction, and deep love for her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Farrell and Kathleen Clewis, and her in-laws, Maxine and Wallace Milford. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her spirit with them: her devoted husband of 62 years, Gary Milford; her children, Karen Milford, Susan Milford Gatehouse, Mark Milford, and Lori Milford Thomas ; and her beloved grandchildren, Alex Milford DeVilliers, Katie Ott, and Connor Gatehouse; beloved great grandchild Blake DeVilliers. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Louise Robinson , whose friendship was a treasured constant throughout her life.
Peggy and Gary shared a love that stood as a true partnership—an enduring example that two parts can indeed make a whole. Their 62 years together were filled with loyalty, devotion, and a deep understanding that carried them through life side by side.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in business, Peggy approached life with both intelligence and practicality. She had a natural gift for bringing clarity to complicated situations—she was the one people turned to when they needed steady logic and honest guidance. Her voice carried reason and a sharp sense of reality.
Peggy found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She was an avid reader, always with a book nearby, and she had a special talent for decorating—creating spaces that felt warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully put together. These quiet passions reflected her inner world: attentive, creative, and full of care.
Above all, Peggy loved fiercely. She was deeply devoted to her husband and her family, standing by them with unwavering loyalty and strength. She believed in doing what was right, even when it was difficult, and she lived that belief every day. Her integrity was not just something she spoke about—it was something she embodied.
Peggy will be remembered for her honesty, her courage to stand firm in what she believed was true and good, and the steady, guiding presence she was to so many. Her legacy is one of love, principle, and a life lived with purpose.
Peggy's legacy will be celebrated at Forest Park Funeral Home,1201 Louisiana Ave Shreveport, LA 71101 on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The burial will take place at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd Shreveport , LA 71109, after the funeral service.
