Nova Alice Banks

Nova Alice Gipson Banks peacefully passed from this life on September 30, 2022. She began her sojourn through life on September 11, 1938, in Ringgold, LA, to the union of President and Laura Theus Gipson.

Nova professed her faith and united with Springhill CME Church in Ringgold, LA at an early age. Later in life, Nova united with New Hope CME Church under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Brim. She served faithfully on the Women's Auxiliary Ministry and remained a devoted servant until her passing.

Nova graduated from Southside High School. She was a strong woman, so it is understandable that she relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana after graduating to pursue a career with Western Electric / Lucent Technologies. She was loyal and dedicated for over 35 years before retiring.

Nova was preceded in death by her loving parents, President and Laura Theus Gipson; her only son, Augus LaShun Gipson; grandchild, Bryce Stewart; and brothers, President Gipson Jr. and Levert Gipson.

Nova leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughters, Sallye A. (James) Stevenson and La Donna B. (Gregory) Newby; grandchildren, Dr. Kristen M. (David) Stoltzman Stevenson and Meghan L. Stevenson; siblings, Fred Gipson, Mildred Cole, Bret (Eunice) Gipson, Annie Cunningham, Patricia (Clay) Brown, Maxine Patterson, and Elzadia (John) Miller; special and adopted children, Leroy and Sarah Parson, Kenny Sabbath, James (husband) & Jan May (Ole Gurl), Net Sanders, Christy Stewart, Ora Lee Burkes, Tami Lilly, Connie Overshown, Jackie Myers, Dawn Edmondson, Dana Owens, Kellye Ray, Takeo Gant, Robin Meadows, and Everett Dunkley; god-daughters, Keyerra Rye and Jaida Casimir; longtime and best childhood friend, Artival gant; special and dear cousin, Anna Pearl Gardner; 10 nieces; 9 nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; and others.
