Myron “Mike” Western went to be home with his Lord and Savior on June 4th, 2023. He passed peacefully in his sleep at the age at the age of 77 after a lengthy illness.
Mike was born on July 31, 1945, in Clayton, Indiana. He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1963. He soon moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1966 to open Sutherlands Lumber Company. He later started his own business, Bossier Garage Door, where he would continue to work until he retired in 2011. Mike’s greatest achievement, however, was raising his three children.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman including deer hunting and bass fishing. He was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and will be missed dearly by many.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Myron Earl Western and Betty Ruth Haymaker, and son, Dale Western. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Western; his children, Joyce Winslow (Donny) and Justin Western; grandchildren, Raleigh Shelton, Brittany Western, Nicole Stutz, and Andrew Winslow; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Remi, and Wesley; his siblings, Sue Lannan, Richard Hamilton (Kathy), Lynn Rose (Bill), Bud Western (Sheila), Rheba DeWitt (Jim), Mark Western (Patty), and Rennie Calidonio; sister-in-law, Wanda Boddie; and brother-in-law, Robert Boddie.
Visiting hours will be at Broadmoor Baptist Church on June 7th at 11:00 AM with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 PM. Dr. Tom Harrison will officiate the ceremony. Pallbearers will be Richard Hamilton, Mark Western, Jerry Horton, Chuck Soileau, Donny Winslow, and Jim DeWitt. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Western and Bill Rose.
