Mrs. Hazel Gale Whalen

(April 9, 1935 - January 4, 2021) Mrs. Whalen passed away on January 4, 2021, in College Station, Texas. Visitation will be Monday, January 11, 2021, from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Forest Park Funeral Home on Louisiana Avenue. Graveside services will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Forest Park Cemetery East on St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport. Mrs. Whalen was a native of Ajax, LA., a resident of Shreveport, LA., and finally College Station, TX. She loved life and always put others first. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed time spent at the farm in Ajax, LA. with her extended family, Delores and Floyd Mims and children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester J. and Nora C. Walker; daughter, Sandra Claire Whalen; brother, Chester J. Walker, III; husbands, Jack Whalen and Dan Prayor; sisters, Sallie Lee and husband Sam and Sandra Bolton and husband Al. She is survived by her stepchildren, Michael (Paula) Praytor, David (Denise) Praytor, Kristine Donatello, and Sherry (Tony) Perry. She is remembered and loved by her nieces and nephews, Marty, Amanda and Ryan (Angela) Bolton and children, Linda (Reginald) McBee, Laura Tidwell, Trey Lee and children; 10 step-grandchildren, as well as her dear friend, Louise Tyler. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Linda Praytor, Becky Cornejo and daughters Veronica and Krystal, Hudson Creek Alzheimer's Care Center, and Amedisys Hospice.
