Mrs. Gloria R. Trotter

We mourn the passing and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Gloria R. Trotter, 92, of Shreveport, Louisiana. On Thursday, February 13, 2020, Gloria R. Trotter, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, passed away at the age of 92. Gloria was born on August 7, 1927 in Shreveport LA and attended Fair Park High School before working for Southern Bell Telephone Company and then as the owner and instructor of the Gloria Reece Trotter Ballet Studio. On August 18, 1950, she married George Harben Trotter. They raised three children Michael, Karen and Mark. Gloria had a passion for ballet and dancing all of her life. She performed in Shreveport often at the Fairgrounds Grandstand Show and the Kiwanis Club Minstrel Show in the late 1940s. After marriage she started her ballet studio, teaching many young girls of Shreveport ballet, jazz and tap. She loved to travel when she could, visited Hong Kong a couple of times as well as cruises with some of her children and relatives. She was known for her outgoing personality, infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Gloria was preceded in death by her mother Irene, brother Lee, husband George and son Michael. She is survived by her daughter Karen, son Mark, grandchildren Sean, Ersala and Wendy and 5 great grandchildren.
