Mrs. Gladys Marie Owen

Gladys Marie Owen, 93 years old, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Gladys was born July 19, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnosota to Ed and Anna Nygaard. Gladys was the Executive Secretary under the Head of the Sales Department at Beard Industries. She retired after 42 years of service. After retirement, she and her husband, of 65 years, David R. Owen, Jr., enjoyed working in their beautiful yard and garden until the age of 92, which she attributed to her "Good Norwegian Stock". Nanny (Gladys) loved to paint ceramic and porcelain objects by hand. She taught classes to share her beautiful talents. She was a very devout Christian and very involved in her church. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Anna Nygaard; son in law, Harry Paul McKinnon; sister Lorraine Henley and husband Bud; and brother Eddie Nygaard. Gladys is survived by her husband, David R. Owen, Jr.; son, Gary Owen and wife Cyndi; daughter, Calene Owen McKinnon; grandchildren, Shannon Hooker and husband Kevin, Kristen Chona and husband Julio; great granddaughter Megan Long and husband Justin; nieces and nephew, Claudia, Sandra, Richard and Melinda.
