Melba ""Sue"" Beckett

Melba (Sue) Marie Howell Beckett Shreveport, LA - Sue Beckett passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born on November 1, 1932 to Oscar Brooks Howell and Ophie Pickett Howell in Plain Dealing, LA. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Brooks Howell and Ophie Pickett Howell and three brothers, Leon Howell, Raymond Howell and Jimmy Howell. Sue is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Benard (Ben) Beckett, Jr; her daughter, Doris Walker and husband Jay Walker; grandson Greg Walker and wife Jessica Walker; granddaughter Brandy Walker; great grandchildren, Ethan and Cora Walker; sister Hazel Karle and Jean Thomas and husband Leon Thomas, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is a retired employee of General Electric Service Department with 32 years of service. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved to dance and sing and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. She will also be remembered for her sweet, kind spirit. She was a person that was accepting of people right where they were in their life without casting judgment. If someone needed help and she could help them she would. She was very wise and was always willing to listen to others and offer a kind word. She had a very positive outlook on life that she shared with those she knew. She always looked for the good in others and believed her glass was always full, not empty. When faced with many challenges, she responded with strength, patience and compassion. She will be terribly missed by her family but they take comfort by the fact that she lived a long, happy life and is now in heaven with Jesus.
