Mary Edmiston

We mourn the loss and cherish the life of Mary Edmiston. A memorial Service will be held in Mary's honor, at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Forest Park Funeral Home, located at 1201 Louisiana Ave, at the intersection of Stoner Ave., Shreveport, LA 71101. Mary Frances Edmiston was born July 11, 1947 in Ruston, LA and was raised in Gibsland, LA. Mary died suddenly at the Carroll St community home where she had lived since 1990. Buddy Driggers and Pastor Steve Riall will lead the funeral services. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Martin Edmiston and Nora Frances Moncrief Edmiston, and brothers Benjamin and Charlie. She is survived by her Aunt, Mrs. Orland Moncrief and several First Cousins including Carolyn Lyons, Robert, Wesley, Jimmy, Steven, Rick, Loy, Bailey and Judy Moncrief, Ann Morris, Melody Boyd, Linda Pitts and Nathan Pavey and other family and her dear friends and wonderful staff at Evergreen Life Services. At the age of 30, she was moved from her home in Gibsland, due to her aging mothers' health, to the Evergreen community in Minden. She later moved to a community home in Shreveport, at which time Evergreen became her family. Mary enjoyed watching the news and sharing her thoughts, having a good meal with her favorite drink, diet coke. She also enjoyed petting her cousin's cat when she visited. But most importantly she enjoyed her life at Evergreen. The Moncrief family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of the Evergreen Life Services community. The staff provided over 30 years of comfort to Mary in an environment of compassion and love, all while teaching her daily life skills to allow her to be as independent as possible. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Gwen Jackson, the home manager and to all of her care givers at the Carroll Street, that made it truly: Home-Sweet-Home.
