Mary Carol Castleberry

Mary Carol Latsha McWaters Castleberry, 84, of Shreveport, LA, a retired commercial artist and bus aid, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at Heritage Manor West, surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born on December 12, 1937, in Shreveport, LA to Mary Ella Lawless and George Latsha. Mary lived out her life and went on to have children in Shreveport as well.

She graduated from Fair Park High School and married her high school sweetheart. Mary was known for her artistic abilities, fashion, and love for the drama …. Of arts that is!

Mary loved going on long car rides, watching airplanes take off and land, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Jennifer Lynn Castleberry Pilgram; her sister, Janet Wechsler; her brother, Phillip Merrit Latsha; and both of her parents, Mary Ella Lawless and George Latsha.

Mary is the mother to and survived by her son, George Michael McWaters, and daughters, Raymona Carroll McWaters Pooler (and husband), and Lily Rene’ McWaters Witt (and husband). Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris, Melissa, Amanda, Brett, Amber, Travis, Johnny, Christina, Michael, Brittney, and Courtney, as well as 28 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, November 18, at Forest Park Funeral Home located at 1201 Louisiana Ave. Shreveport, LA 71101. Viewing is scheduled for 10:00 AM with funeral services following right after at 12:30 PM. From then, we will continue with a graveside prayer and farewell at 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave. Shreveport, LA 71103. Any donations or flower arrangements can be sent directly to the funeral home. Accompanying Ms. Mary as her Pallbearers are: Chris McWaters, Amber Thorsell, Travis Clark, Johnny Cloyes, Brittney Gaspard, Ricky Allen, Jeremy Gaspard, and Matthew Peters.
