Manley 'Bud' Beard

Bud passed away at his home in Hammond, LA, with his loving wife by his side. His life celebration will be Thursday, August 23, 2018, beginning with visitation 10:00am to 12:00pm at Forest Park Funeral Home followed by a graveside service officiated by Frank Akridge, Jr., at Forest Park West Cemetery. Bud was born in Shreveport, LA, July 25, 1939, only child of Manley and Helen Beard, Sr. He grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Warren Easton High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Germany. After serving his country, he lived in Gulfport, MS, working at a shipyard. Eventually he returned to Shreveport and worked hotel security. After many years, he and his wife, Nancy Beard, moved to Hammond, LA, to be close to family. Bud was a sweet, kind, generous man who was loyal and treated everyone the same. He loved anything having to do with cars including tinkering and rebuilding. NASCAR was his favorite. He didn't know it until he married Nancy, but he loved cats. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Manley and Helen Beard, Sr. Left to cherish Bud's memory are his wife, Nancy, son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Natalia Beard, son and his fianc, Blain Beard and Gina Bihm, step-daughter and her husband Becky and Mark Seale, and step-son, Chris Bass, grandchildren and step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bud's name to Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson's Disease Association.
