Lula Mae Sallis

Lula Mae Sallis, age 98 of Minden, LA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 23, 2018. She was born on January 22, 1920, in Port Arthur, TX to the late William and Florence Burgess. She was a resident of Minden for the last 14 years and lived in the Port Arthur area all of her life prior to her move to Minden. In her early years, she was the manager of the cosmetic counter at Weingarten's and she worked at voting polls for over 30 years. She was a faithful servant of Central Baptist Church of Port Neches for many years and in her last years was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Minden. Lula was preceded in death by husband of 65 years, William Walter Sallis; brother, William H. Burgess; sisters, Irene Dartez, Frieda Hamilton and Lorraine Lyons. She is survived by five generations of nieces and nephews. The family will have a private service lead by her great-great-nephew, Bryan Hicks, on Tuesday, March 27, followed by Intombment at Greenlawn Mausoleum Gardens, next to William, on Wednesday, March 28, in Port Arthur, Texas.
