Lailiah Cole

. Lailiah Evelynn Sutton Cole, 94, passed away peacefully at home in Shreveport, LA on January 12, 2017. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Ave. Shreveport, LA. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 18, 2017 11:00 am at Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Ave. Rev. Willis Dear will officiate. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lailiah Beatrice Sutton; father, Willis Morgan Sutton and husband John Ernest Cole, Jr. She is survived by her son, John Ernest Cole lll and wife, Monnie Holt Cole; Grandchildren Michael Laurin Cole and his daughter, Laura Mae Cole; Stephen Morgan Cole and his wife Aleksandra (Sasha) Dineva Cole and their children, Daniel Alexander Cole, Rebecca Jane Cole and Evelyn Anastasia Cole; son, Patrick Sean Cole and his wife Heather Rist Cole. Evelynn was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport and was a choir member for over 30 years. She was a lifelong learner who began her education at Queensborough Elementary and graduated from Fair Park High School in 1939. She pursued post-secondary education by attending Dodd College, a two year college, then Centenary College, receiving a degree in Education. While employed as a elementary school teacher in the Caddo Parish School System, she received a Masters Degree from Northwestern State University and later added a Plus-30 certification from Northwestern State University. She continually added to her pursuit of knowledge through extensive travel including China, Japan, Europe, Balkan states and Russia using these experiences to enhance her effectiveness as a teacher. The family would like to give a special thanks to the loving staff at St. Joeseph's Home Hospice for their professional and compassionate care.
