Karla Annette Jennings Cheramie MOTHER Karla Annette Jennings Cheramie was born on January 5, 1959 in Lake Charles, LA and departed this life on April 21, 2016 in Shreveport, LA. She was the first of six children born to Frank and Geneva Jennings. She graduated from Alfred M. Barbe High School in Lake Charles, LA in 1977. She married Clifford Cheramie on May 10, 1980. Two children were born to this union, Candice Annette (November 19, 1980) and Kayla Victoria (August 10, 1987). She graduated from Commercial College in Shreveport with an associate degree in Clerical Office Administration with a 4.0 GPA in 1987. Throughout her life she worked various jobs in the hospitality field. She attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church as a child and was also married there. After moving to Shreveport she attended Haynes Avenue Baptist Church and various other churches over the years. Karla was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and above all a great friend to all. She wore her heart on her sleeve, but had a sassy side too. She had many hobbies including: listening to classic country music, playing on her iPad, Sudoku puzzles, coloring, spending time with her family & friends, traveling and watching her two favorite TV shows, Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor. Of course we can't forget how much momma loved Elvis Presley. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Geneva Jennings; her brother Bryan; her husband and longtime friend, Clifford Cheramie; and her son-in-law Reggie Preston. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Candice and Kayla of Shreveport; her four sisters Lauren Landry (Tim) of Ragley; Rhonda Ford and Myra Arabie both of Lake Charles; Jessica Jennings of Wichita Falls, TX; one brother Norman Jennings of Lake Charles; two brother-in-laws, Robert Cheramie of Kentwood (Kathy); Donnie Ford of Lake Charles; two sister-in-laws; Kathy Jennings of Lake Charles and Cathy Gaetz (Jeff) of Bossier City; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in Shreveport, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Dallas, TX and Arkansas. Special thanks to all of our family and friends for the love, support, and prayers during this very difficult time we ask for continued prayers in the upcoming months.
