Juanita "Pat" Faye Akins Sepulvado

Juanita “Pat” Fay Akins Sepulvado, affectionately known as Pat, was born on July 3, 1949, Shreveport, Louisiana to Atkin & Lessie B Akins. She learned of Jesus at an early age, confessed and put on the full armor of God.

She satisfied high school credits and received her diploma from Carrie Martin High School in 1967. She attended Bossier Parish Community College, and in 2004, received an Associate Degree of General Studies in Psychology from Southern University at Shreveport.

Other than the day she accepted Christ the other most important day of her life was May 10, 1968, the birth of her son, Juwarlor “Jay” Fenon Akins. She spoke of her son often and with great pride, hoping her accomplishments were a source of delight for him as he was for her.

She worked varies positions, often at the same time, as a Station Operator at General Electric, SWEPCO, Manager at Pottery USA, Day-by Day Substitute with the Caddo Parish School Board, and a cashier for many years at Louisiana Downs before landing a retirement position with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Her initial employment on January 3, 1991, as a P.O.S.T. Certified Deputy eventually led her to where her skills would best serve the department as a Deputy in Human Resources as a Recruitment and Selections Processor. For 29 years, she served in this position where her big, keen memory and thorough sense of organization was responsible for processing and hiring a large number of Sheriff’s Office employees. Her character and integrity were reflected in her work and the trust she was given, marked by the many accommodation and appreciation letters and certificates. Her mind was a walking Sheriff’s Office encyclopedia, everyone knew if you needed to know something, just ask Pat. She could give you the who, what, when, and where without batting an eye.

For those who knew Pat, her faith in Jesus was deep-rooted and she carried an unwavering commitment to spreading Jesus-Shaped love and kindness to anyone who lend an ear. Her biblical encouragement and sharing of scripture will be missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Juwarlor Fenon Akins; her sister, Mary R. Parish; her nephews, Ron Parish and Rodrick Parish; her cousins, Dorothy Brown and El-Stephenson; and Judith Oluka, who was like a daughter to her. She also leaves behind many other beloved family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her presence.

She was preceded in eternity by her parents and her sister, Sheretta L. Akins, who welcomed her home before us. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lives she touched will remain with those who loved her for generations to come.
