Joyce Ross

Joyce Owens Ross, age 82, crossed over into Glory on October 26, 2017 in Shreveport, La. Joyce was born on August 28, 1935 in Coal Run, KY. She fought a courageous fight until her last breath and her faith in the Lord sustained her during this last great battle that removed her from this earth. From poor beginnings in the hills of Eastern Kentucky, Joyce and her family were proud Americans and persevered through the great depression and were hard workers to overcome all obstacles. This would serve her well the rest of her life as Joyce never would give up and would fight through all circumstances to overcome. At the end of high school she moved to Indiana to begin a new life and was married to Dale Shepherd. They had three children together, David, Debra (Passed away right after birth), Timothy, and moved to Corpus Christi, TX in 1962. After a divorce she then married Ralph Carscadden and they had a son together, Jay, and with David and Timothy became a new family. In 1971 Joyce made the greatest decision of her life when she, along with her children, gave their lives to Jesus Christ. This began a complete change in direction and moral compass for the entire family until this very day as the entire family is either in or engaged in the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the old song says, "No Turning Back" it became the driving force for Joyce and her offspring. She would then move to Shreveport in 1978 and become extremely involved in the Body of Christ in this great community until the Lord took her home. A great friend, encourager and prayer warrior to everyone she would meet she truly showed us all what Faith in God looks like whether it was surviving cancer twice to overcoming every form of obstacle that came her way, she was a Joy to all who knew or met her. Joyce is survived by two of her sisters, Blanche Martin of IN and Juanita Hazeltine of CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Her twin brother Royce Owens, other brothers, Virgil Owens, Joseph Owens, Clifford Owens and her other sister Ival Brewer. Children Include: David and Sherrie Carscadden of Adel, IA, Timothy and Susan Carscadden of Shreveport, LA. and Jay and Jessica Carscadden of Shreveport, La. Her Grandchildren Include: Jeremiah and Alexis Carscadden of Chicago, IL, Joshua and Jennifer Carscadden of Brooklyn Park, MN, Halie and Chris Harris of Shreveport, LA, Hannah and Zach Mawhorr of Panama City, FL. Jacob Carscadden of Osaka, Japan, Zach Carscadden of Pembroke Pines, FL, Isaac Paul Carscadden of Shreveport, LA, Loren, Lucas, Noah Carscadden of Shreveport, LA. Great Children include: Kendall, Adelina, Presleigh Rae, Jaxon.
