John David Barlish

John David Barlish born Dec. 03, 1947 in Shreveport, La passed from this world on Sept. 12, 2016. John loved his God, his country, and his family. He graduated from Woodlawn High in 1966 and went to Voc. Tech and became a barber at Uptown Barber Shop, then Marcus Furniture Co., City of Shreveport and retired from Frymaster. John is proceeded in death by parents Bennie and Odessa (Dykes) Barlish, mother and father in law John and Myrtis Poisso and Brother in law Billy A. Poisso. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Johnnie Barlish and son Ben Barlish of Memphis, Tennessee. His family expresses gratitude for the many kindness shown to John by Dr. Michael R. Moore, Rita, and Hollie at WK Cancer Center North. Dr. Scott Patton at Christus Highland Medical Center. Dr. Tharwat Ghattas and Dr. Kirtan N. Koticha, all the Sisters and employees on 3rd floor. Dr. Robert Holladay, Dr. Satish Kalanjeri, and Dr. Koshy at LSU Health Medical Center. A graveside service will be Wednesday Sept. 14th at 1:00pm at Forest Park West Cemetery on Meriwether Rd. Officiating Pastor Kevin Nettles. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude, American Cancer Society, Christus Home Care Grace Home Hospice One Saint Mary Place Shreveport, LA 71101 or to a charity of choice.
