Jimmy Sandefur

February 19, 1965 — February 6, 2018

Services will be held for Jimmy H. Sandefur at 10 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Broadmoor Baptist Church. Minister Ronny Cates will be presiding. Internment will immediately follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will also be held at the church, Friday evening from 5 - 7, with a wake starting at 5:30, Msgr. Earl Provenza. Jimmy was born to Robert H. Sandefur and Joy Louise Dowden on February 19, 1965, in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Bossier City and Coushatta and graduated from Northwestern State University in 1986. On October 10, 1994, Jimmy married Anne Provenza Sandefur, his best friend and better half. Jimmy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. He and his family were blessed by the outpouring of love and support during this journey. Jimmy began a long career with IRS in 1988 as a Revenue Officer. In 1994, he transferred to IRS-Criminal Investigation as a Special Agent and enjoyed that challenge until retirement in 2017. Some of the finest friendships he knew were forged during that time. Jimmy loved Anne and Shelby and spending time with them was his greatest joy. Church, concerts, football, hockey, family time and "quiet home" were some of his happiest moments. He collected Civil War memorabilia, enjoyed and collected memorabilia from the film "Jaws" often quoting it to Anne's chagrin (although she tolerated his hobby with a quiet patience). Jimmy attended Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton for many years and Broadmoor Baptist Church the past several. He is thankful for the support and encouragement of church friends; particularly those of his Broadmoor B Group during the last year, and the prayerful leadership and guidance of Ronny Cates and Derek Pearce. Jimmy is survived by wife Anne and daughter Shelby, the true loves of his life; brother Jerry Whitchard and wife Vicky of Centerville, TN, sister Linda Slywczuk and husband Michael of Dallastown, PA, and sister Shelah Sandefur of Centerville, TN. Anne's family, father Louis Provenza and the late Rosalie Provenza, and siblings Dr. Louis Provenza and wife Becky, Diana Landry and husband Randall and Andrea Madden and husband Charles were a source of love, support and laughter over the years. Numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces will miss Jimmy's humor, "picking" and screaming at the television when the Cowboys made a bad play. The neighbors won't miss all the yelling. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Nihar Patel, Dr. Daniella Dang, and the staff at the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research hospital or the cancer support society of your choice. "Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can." - John Wesley SERVICES Funeral Service Saturday, February 10, 2018 10:00 AM Broadmoor Baptist Church Shreveport, La
