Jean Austin

Mrs. Jean Williams Austin, 86, of Keithville, Louisiana, entered into rest on May 15, 2018. Mrs. (Ms. Jean) Austin was born of March 3, 1932 in Mansfield, Louisiana, the youngest of 4 children born to Jessie Grady and Ima Williams. She graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1950, and went on to graduate with the first nursing class of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana in 1952. After deciding to make her career in Respiratory Therapy, she went to work for Doctor's Hospital retiring in 1996 as Head of the Cardio-Pulmonary Department after 35 years of loyal service. She was, above all, a totally devoted mother, cherished by her 5 children and loved by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald Austin, two brothers, Belden and James Glenn Williams, and eldest son, Randal Joseph Nowlan. She is survived by her sister, Genevieve Tobin, two daughters, Kathy Hendricks and husband Randel, and Connie Sallin and husband Bill, two sons, Kurt and Kenneth Nowlan as well as her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences may be made through Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Avenue in Shreveport, where visitation will be held from 5 - 8 PM on Thursday, May 17, 2018, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday, May the 18, 2018 at the Wellman Memorial Chapel within Forest Park Funeral Home. Ms. Jean will be buried, immediately following the funeral, at Spring Ridge Cemetery, next to her parents, eldest son, and other family members.
