James “Jimbo” Patrick Bodenheimer, Jr., born on November 19, 1968, in New Orleans, died Saturday, October 8, 2022, in Shreveport, LA. He was the son of James Patrick Bodenheimer, Sr. and Sheila Roger Durocher.
He graduated from Jesuit High School and Louisiana Tech University. Jimbo was an active member of AA and the Highland Club and served as a deacon at Kings Highway Christian Church. Jimbo loved stopping to smell the roses and living each day to the fullest. As a man of faith, he lived to help others, especially those struggling with alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental illness. His message was clear: never give up.
A master at dominoes, backgammon, and cards, Jimbo enjoyed playing games with family and friends. He began each of his days on his front porch, feeding birds and other animals that found a home in his yard. Other passions included fishing and metal detecting. Jimbo cherished his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Wallace Roger, Jr.
Jimbo is survived by his sisters, Rebecca Beach, of Kingsport, TN and Christine Bodenheimer, of Seattle, WA; aunts, Laura Bodenheimer, of Houston, TX, Ann Fleming of Itasca, IL, and Elizabeth (Don) Lewis of Beaufort, SC; and uncles, Robert (Cathy) Roger, of Broussard, LA, Barry Roger, of Porter, TX, Greg (Mary) Roger, of Thibodaux, LA, and Gerard (Leah) Roger, of Abbeville, LA. He is also survived by more than 20 nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 11:00 AM at Kings Highway Christian Church in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, Kings Highway Christian Church; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church; or a charity of your choosing.
