James “Jim” Carroll Richardson, age 93, a former petroleum specialist, has died of natural causes on September 27, 2022, in Shreveport, LA.
He was born on March 22, 1929, in New Orleans, LA, to George and Mamie Richardson. He lived most of his life in New Orleans, Lafayette, and Shreveport. He attended Warren Easton High School, served in the U. S. Navy, and was a member of the Civil Defense for the city of Shreveport for several years. James was a Music Minister at Temple Baptist Church and worshipped regularly at Pinecroft Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, building things for his home, and spending quality time with his family. Jim loved all animals, especially his cats. He earned his Pilot’s License and would travel all over the United States with his wife, Janis. The two visited Hawaii, Alaska, American Samoa, and Scotland.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janis Curlin Richardson; his parents, George and Mamie Richardson; one brother, Robert Richardson; and son-in-law, Philip Upshaw.
He is survived by his children, Carol (Mike) Kelley, Laura Upshaw, and Brian Richardson; grandchildren, Heather Emmons, James (Jennifer) Kelley, Janis (Cole) Rosenquist, Melissa (Travis) Shurling, Deanna Upshaw (William) Markham, Christopher (Elizabeth) Richardson, and Suzanne Richardson; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6th, from 5 PM until 7 PM, at Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Ave. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 7th, at 11 AM, at Pinecroft Baptist Church, 8002 Jewella Ave.
Jim’s family would like to thank Christus Hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to Pinecroft Baptist Church attention Southern Baptist Association, foreign, state, or national missions.
