Geraldine Briggs

Geraldine Walker Briggs (Gerry), 97, of Conway, Arkansas, peacefully passed away Friday August 23, 2019 at Conway Regional Medical Center. She was born November 7, 1921 in Atlanta, Texas to Nora and Jarrell Walker. Geraldine's main cities of residence were Kildare, TX and Shreveport, LA. Schools she attended were Linden Kildare Elementary and High School and East Texas State Teachers College. She received salutatorian of her High School graduating class and in 1947 she received her Masters Degree from East Texas State Teachers college. She was a long-time member of Highland Baptist and then first Baptist of Shreveport, LA, and was also active in the church choir. Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Jacob Briggs (Jake), her parents; Jarrell Walker and Nora Waites Walker, granddaughter; Kelly Briggs, and sisters; Reba Walker, Pansy Ruth Walker, Myra Jo Walker. Surviving family includes her children; Bobby Jarrell Briggs, Tommy Michael Briggs, Lesa Chew, grandchildren; Lindsay Briggs, David Chew, Laura Chew, Christopher Chew, Benjamin Chew, great-grandchildren; Joshua and Jonah Hopper, cousins; Merlyn Goodman, Erdyce Horvatinovic, Hoyt Tolleson, and niece; Jan Walker Davidson.
