George ""Dave"" Sherwood Of Louisiana

Graveside Services for George David Sherwood have been entrusted to Forest Park Funeral Home and will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery (4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA 71109) on December 7, 2013 at 1pm. Officiating will be Reverend Donnie Vercher. ""Dave"" was born in Bowling Green, KY on August 21, 1929 to parents, George and Corinne Sherwood. He passed away peacefully at his home on November 27th after a short battle with cancer. He served in the Army and Navy from 1947 to 1952, and retired in 1980 after a distinguished career at Western Electric. Upon retirement he pursued his passion in fishing, boating, golfing, traveling, and entertaining in ""the beer garden"". He is survived by his sons, Stephen and James Sherwood, one daughter, Kris Buergelin, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and Ginger, ""The smartest dog in the world"". With sincere gratitude, the family would like to express their thanks to the compassionate staff of St. Joseph Hospice especially ""Charlotte"", and also to the neighbors and friends who surrounded him with love all his years here in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 668 Jordan St, Shreveport, LA 71101. Honoring Dave as pallbearers, along with the Military Honor Guard will be his two sons, Stephen and Jim Sherwood, Grandson David Sherwood, Son-in-law Jeff Buergelin, Grandsons Robert and Andrew Buergelin, and friends George Babbitt, Bob Allen,Bill Riley and Rocky Berlin.
