Frances Russ Cireno

Frances Russ Cireno passed away peacefully on November 7, 2022, at the age of 92.

Born in 1930 in Munich, Germany, Frances lived through WWII and the restoration of post war Germany, then emigrated to the United States, via New York, in 1956. She made her way to Shreveport, to be with her sister, who had met and married an American Army soldier, from northern Louisiana. In 1957, Frances married Jose Marcos Cireno, a tailor, who had emigrated from Mexico to Shreveport. They both gained their U.S. Citizenship in the early 1960's and voted in every subsequent election. Frances and Joe were married for 51 years, until his death in late 2008. Frances, similar to her husband, was a seamstress and sewed for many members of the Shreveport community. She altered clothes for people's special events, everyday work lives and made numerous costumes for children. She was a perfectionist when it came to her work. She continued doing this right up until weeks before her passing. Frances was independent and self-sufficient until her passing. She could often be seen working in the yard, trimming trees, tending to her flowers or washing her car. Frances was blessed with many friends, some for over five decades. They enjoyed many afternoon "coffees" talking and sharing stories of their travels and families. She loved the symphony and opera and could be seen at the theatre, wearing beautiful outfits that she had made for herself.

Frances is survived by her children, Ingrid Myers (Kyle), Lisa Miller (Jay), and Marc; and her grandsons, Brian Delmonico and Eric Delmonico (Stephanie).

A memorial mass will be held in her honor on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, followed by refreshments.
