Lt. Col Floyd T. Picht - USAF/RET passed away on August 21st, 2021. He was born in New York City, NY on June 19, 1933. He grew up along the shore in Manasquan, New Jersey with his parents, Ralph and Helen, and his older brother, Robert. In 1951, Floyd joined the military for a four-year tour and stayed for 26 years! After graduating from navigator school, his first posting was in Iceland to an Air and Rescue Squadron. From there, he went to Little Rock, AR where he met his soon-to-be bride, Ruth Shelton. Over the next two decades, Floyd traveled all over the world, but he said there was no place like the Good Old USA and the great American people! After 26 years of serving as a navigator and intelligence officer, he retired from the military and moved to Bossier City, LA. He worked for the state for more than 20 years until he completely retired in 1996 to play golf and travel with Ruth. His military decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, and 3 Meritorious Service Medals. Floyd and Ruth married in 1956 and had eight children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He loved Ruth, his family, the USAF, and golf. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his brother, Robert; and seven of his eight children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 4th, at 10:00 am at Forest Park Funeral Home at 1201 Louisiana Ave. Shreveport, LA 71107. All are welcome to celebrate an amazing life.
