Elloise Austin

February 11, 1938 — May 31, 2024

Elloise Davis Austin of Grand Cane, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 31,2024 comfortably and peacefully surrounded by her children. Elloise was born Friday February 11,1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late LJ and Lillie Hogan Davis.


Elloise was a graduate of Desoto High School and received further education over the years through Northwestern State University, Grambling State University and Pepperdine University. Her love for children and compassion for others lead to her becoming an educator with Caddo and Desoto Parish school systems until her retirement.


Elloise enjoyed spending her spare time planting, gardening, fishing, cooking and most importantly studying God's word. Her love for gardening led her to receiving a Master of Gardening certificate through Louisiana State University. She was known to have had a green thumb. Elloise truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, family and friends.


Elloise was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard Austin; brother James Davis and one grandchild Tori McHenry.


Left to cherish Elloise’s beautiful memories are her two children: Delvin McHenry (Melenie), Tony Burns; one grandchild Delvin McHenry Jr. (DJ); extended family and a host of wonderful friends.


A memorial service for Elloise will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Forest Park Funeral Home, 1201 Louisiana Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101.
