Elizabeth McLoyd Harmon Averitt, 62, of Belcher, Louisiana, passed away on January 7, 2023, suddenly after sustaining a heart attack. She was born November 19th, 1960, to Thomas and Lynne Harmon, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Our mother was the sweetest, most compassionate and loving person we have ever known, an angel among humans, and we had the privilege of calling her mom. Our mom lost her mother at a very young age and went through ordeals that would break the strong among us. Yet, instead of being bitter, she was full of optimism and joy.
She had four kids she loved dearly. If you asked each one of us, we would say we were her favorite, but not just us, her brother, Chris Harmon, and grandkids as well. She so loved spending time her family, and we all loved to be around her. In 2016, a childhood friend named Jack Goodwill came back into her life after many years apart. Mom loved him, and he became family to all of us. There is a saying I told mom once, “Paradise lies at your mother’s feet,” for you showed in action and deeds what unconditional love is. We love you, Mama, until the day we meet again, our hearts will ache, but I know your love and example will carry us through this life.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Stuart Harmon and Dorothy Lynne Comegys Harmon.
She leaves behind her brother, Chris Harmon; partner, Jack Goodwill; children, Brandy (Ronnie) Norwood, Keri Renee Averitt, Randall Kerry Averitt Jr., and Christina Elizabeth Averitt; her grandchildren, David Hartsell Jr., Alyssa Allen, Gavin Hartsell, Katelynne Averitt, John Paul Douglas Phillips, and Kayla Christina Neal; serval cousins whom she loved dearly; and countless friends.
