Edward Hice Gates

Edward Gates, 87, of Shreveport was entrusted to God's loving care on Wednesday, February, 11, 2015. He was born April 11, 1927 to the late Mineola and James Gates. Ed was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and will be deeply missed. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed working at his brother JT's ranch. Ed was a dedicated employee for 27 years at Libby Owens and Ford Glass Company. He also faithfully served our country during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was in the Army Air Corp and we thank him for his service. Left to cherish memories will be his loving wife of 64 years, Obera F. Gates; Daughters, Vicky Behan (Carl), Sharon McClung (Keith), Melanie Gates, all of Shreveport; Brothers, Harmon Emmit Gates of Texas; Grandchildren, Amy Michelle Prather, Stephanie Snow, Nicholas Edward Behan, Lindsey Rene Bond, Heather Nicole Heard; Great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Cole Prather, Kathleen Faith Prather, Michael Logan Behan, Harley Rain Behan, Mathew Behan, Maggie Arabella Bond, Joseph Nathan Snow, and Brandon David Snow. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation at Forest Park Funeral Home on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 10:30 am until time of service at noon.
