It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Debra Sue Malone (Natchitoches, Louisiana), who passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2023, at the age of 67, leaving family and numerous friends to mourn her passing. Debbie was born and raised in the Wilda community. She attended Boyce High School, starting first grade in 1961; and she maintained many long-term relationships with classmates.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Leon "Hardy" Malone and Shirley Ann Causey Malone; her brother, Gary Wayne Malone; and an infant sister.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Pamela Malone Andes (Wilda community); nephew, Kohl Andes (Emily) and children (Dry Prong); and cousins.
Debbie had a passion for life, and she was very athletic. She enjoyed a variety of sports such as volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading. She had a love for the beautiful outdoors and enjoyed water skiing, canoeing, camping, and fishing. In addition, she enjoyed planting and harvesting herbs from her herb garden. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her love for family, friends, and animals. Debbie especially loved horses and her rescue dogs--her Springer Spaniel and most recently her precious miniature terrier, Mikie, which was her longtime companion.
Debbie had interesting and various occupations throughout her lifetime. She loved horses and would compete in barrel racing, roping events, and track racing in the 1980’s. Her love and knowledge of horses enabled her to obtain one of her dream jobs. She worked in Kentucky with Equine Pedigrees. She would also get to travel the globe (Ireland, New York, Florida, and other destinations) in accompanying the Thoroughbreds keeping them calm as they travelled to different events. She also had the honor of showing the horses at auction events.
In the 1990’s, Debbie pursued a career in Nursing and obtained her Registered Nurse license in 1992. She enjoyed this career for almost a decade and then decided to pursue a career in real estate. In 2004, Debbie joined a real estate firm in Bella Vista, Arkansas and enjoyed a lengthy career in that field before retiring to Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Most importantly, Debbie had a sincere longing to develop a deeper relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She had bibles and Christian study books beside her favorite reading chair, next to the window, that she would enjoy reading and then sharing what she’d learned. We have no doubts that Jesus and His angels welcomed her into heaven on May 23, 2023. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. We will cherish her memory and all the special times we shared with her in this life, until we see her again.
At a future date, there will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at Hemphill Star Cemetery Boyce, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, USA. The family would like to extend their appreciation to friends, relatives, and Pastor Joey Rudisill for all their support, help, and condolences.
