Curtis Lynn Rape, born April 5, 1940, in Monroe, LA died on April 10, 2018. Curtis completed both his undergraduate and a masters from University of Louisiana-Monroe, formerly N.E. LA University. Later, Mr. Rape served his country by joining the US Air Force. Soon after, Curtis started his career at Riverwood International Corporation and stayed with them through retirement in 2005. In order to give back to his community he gave his time to the Miss Louisiana Pageant, serving as both a choreographer and Production Consultant. Additionally, he fulfilled his love for the arts by acting as a Choreographer at the Strauss Theatre in Monroe and performing. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Louise Smith Rape; an infant sister, Beverly Ann; and a special cousin, Frances Hendrix. Curtis is survived by, his very old and good friend, Patricia Cook, partner, Shelton Floyd; a sister Georgia Hines; cousin, Lisa Johnson; two ‘Adopted' children Jennifer Floyd and Courtney Janicky; nephews Howard (Jackie) Hines and Bruce Hines; and five ‘Adopted' grandchildren. A Grave-Side Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Hasley Cemetary, West Monroe, LA. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Rape's wishes were for donations be made to either of the following: The Strauss Theatre, 1300 Lamy Ln, Monroe, LA 71201, or Miss Louisiana Scholarship Organization, 1800 Forsythe Ave, Ste 2, Box 306, Monroe, LA 71201, or Twin City Ballet, 2905 DeSoto St, Monroe LA 71201.
