Cosmas Damian Prest

A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Cosmas Damian 'CD' Prest, 82, of Shreveport, LA will be offered on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Officiating will be Father Raney Johnson. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St Vincent Ave. Shreveport, LA. C.D. was born on November 15, 1939, in Shreveport, LA and passed away at his home on December 13, 2021. He was an avid photographer, starting as a youth and eventually by trade while working at Dees Camera and Photography. As a teenager, he and his uncles built his own darkroom in which he developed and processed his own pictures. Several of his photos won awards and were published in the local newspaper. Self-driven and detail-oriented, after graduating from Louisiana Tech, he pursued a career with Boeing/ NASA in New Orleans. He was part of the team that analyzed the static firing of the S1C Rocket which was the first stage of the Apollo Saturn V rocket which took man to the moon. Five decades later, the Saturn V Rocket remains the largest and most powerful man-made engine ever built. C.D. returned to Shreveport, where he joined the Eckerd Drug Team and retired as a manager/supervisor. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Cynthia (Cindy) Ann (Stratton) Prest; his parents, Salvatore (Sam) and Anne Prest; and siblings, Rosemary Sterba, Anthony Prest, Frank Prest, and Joseph Prest. C.D. is survived by his children, Byron Damian Prest, Alisa Prest Kennedy (Matt), Jay Stratton, Michael Stratton, and Christopher Stratton. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Kennedy, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. C.D. was a kind, caring person and a lifelong soulmate to his wife, Cindy. He will be greatly missed by all those he left behind.
