Carolyn Phillips, a beloved eye specialist, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana, at the age of 81. Born on October 29, 1944, in Hope, Arkansas, Carolyn spent her early years in the nurturing environment of her hometown before embarking on a lifelong journey enriched by love, creativity, and community service.
A proud graduate of Woodlawn High School and Tulane University, Carolyn was known for her profound commitment to her profession and her unwavering love for her family and friends. She possessed a vibrant personality that made her unforgettable; a woman who never met a stranger, her warmth shone through her affectionate words, greeting everyone as “sugar,” “baby,” or “darling.” Her home was a canvas of her creativity, a warm and inviting space that showcased her talent for entertaining and hosting memorable events. Cooking was one of her greatest passions, allowing her to bring joy to those around her through delightful meals and shared experiences.
Carolyn dedicated herself to her career and her community, leaving an indelible mark on many lives. She served actively on the Leadership Council for the Louisiana Public Health Administration and was a member of the Headstart Council. Moreover, her commitment to service extended to mentoring in Alcoholics Anonymous for over 20 years, where she touched countless lives with her gentle wisdom and enduring support. She was also a beloved participant in Players & Playettes, sharing her love for performance and community through the arts.
In her personal life, Carolyn cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Cindy Wallace and Chuck Phillips; her siblings, Toni Skinner, Vicki Boggs, Ken Williams, and Billy Williams; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and the lessons she imparted throughout her life.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Hershal and Marie Williams, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.
A visitation to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held on March 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemeteries located at 1201 Louisiana Ave, Shreveport, LA. A graveside service will follow on March 12, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Forest Park West Cemetery at 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA, where loved ones will gather to pay their final respects.
