Billie Meeks Travis Services for Billie Meeks Travis, a longtime resident of Shreveport, will be held at 2:00pm Friday at Forest Park Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. She was born August 14,1930 in Vicksburg, Miss. Mrs.Travis was a recent resident of Cartmell Home in Palestine, Tx, where she passed away on Tuesday July 16, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her devoted husband, George M. Travis. Together they successfully ran Travis Shoe Stores in Shreveport for many years and pioneered Pappagallo Shoe Stores in Houston, Tx. Prior to that, Mrs. Travis graduated from Clark High School and Bish Mathis Institute. She served as secretary to Dr. G. Earl Guinn, president of Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her parents, John Younger Meeks and Rosa Elma Floyd Meeks, brothers James Lewis Meeks and Morris Meeks, and step-son Judd Travis and sister Lorene Meeks. She is survived by a large, loving family, including sister Loyce Carter, and step-daughter Terri Travis; daughter-in-law Sally Brown; Nephews Greg Carter, Darryl Carter, Keith Meeks, and Randy Huffman, Nieces Becky Meeks, and Lou Eva Massari; granddaughters Patricia Pisciotta and Mandy Stewart; and four great- grandchildren.
