Betty Lapointe

July 4, 1931 — March 26, 2018

Betty Ann Lapointe was born on July 4, 1931 to Carson and Gladys Stratton and passed away March 26, 2018 in Bossier City, Louisiana following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was the beloved wife of Robert Lapointe for 63 years. She was also a devoted mother to daughter Joan, and to granddaughter Kristie. She worked in Sedalia, Missouri; Okinawa, Japan; Des Moines, Iowa; Springfield, Ohio; and finally Kirkwood, Missouri as a Laboratory Technician before retiring in 1994. Betty was a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a grandmother, a great-grandmother and a friend to many. She was independent and headstrong but also warm, caring, and giving. At family gatherings or while entertaining, she became known somewhat of a food-pusher, making sure everyone had all they wanted. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and granddaughter, camping or taking "mini-vacations" when they could. Betty and Robert enjoyed traveling the United States, taking cruises, and going on excursions to China and Italy prior to Betty becoming ill. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Carson and Gladys; her daughter Joan Riggins, and her two brothers Tilman Stratton and Max Stratton. Betty is survived by her husband Robert of Bossier City, LA, son-in law Robert Riggins of Bossier City, LA, granddaughter Kristie (Chris) of Fulton, MO, great-grandson Ashton (Angel) of Springfield, Mo. She is also survived by her sister-in law, Theresa Dupont of Pawtucket, RI and many nieces and nephews. There will be no services. The family requests that memorial donations be made to alz.org; Alzheimer's Association National Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
