Betty B. Hogan

July 18, 1937 — November 25, 2016

Betty Bennett Hogan, 79, of Shreveport, La. died peacefully Friday, November 25, 2016 after a courageous battle with dementia. Betty was born July 18, 1937, daughter of Sanders ""Bud"" Bennett and Ola Sims Bennett. She graduated Choudrant High School and in December, 1958 married the love of her life Marvin Robert Hogan, also of Choudrant. With an eye for beauty and detail surpassed by none, Betty was an excellent seamstress, cook and home interior designer. Her house was always beautiful and spotless. And anyone fortunate enough to be the recipient of her many pies, cakes and other dishes can attest to her formidable skill in the kitchen. Holiday meals were always something to behold! Betty did not bury her talents - she put them all to work in the Christian call of service to others. At a time of need or despair, a pie would be in the oven - count on it! She was truly the embodiment of a ""suffering servant,"" whether baking, making a caring phone call, or giving a simple hug of encouragement: she lived a life of service according to her Savior Jesus Christ. Betty's passion for life and love spilled over her family, all of whom will miss her terribly and remember her forever. She counted among her family her amazing friends at Summer Grove Baptist Church, where she worshipped our Lord for most of her life. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Marvin, also of Choudrant, son Ken Hogan and wife Connie, son Jeff Hogan and wife Sheri, twin brother Billy Bennett of Choudrant and six granddaughters, all of whom she especially adored: Lindsey Rene, Kendall Ann, Hannah Grace, Rachel Joy, Holly Marie and Ryleigh Anne. The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the angels at Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home and to those at Montclair Assisted Living. Services will be held Tuesday November 29 at 11am at Forest Park Funeral Home in Shreveport, with visitation being the prior evening 5-8pm. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home of Monroe, La.
